After being in America for the past 3 months, we are excited to be back home in Haiti alongside our amazing staff! During our time in America, we were able to spend time looking back on the progress we made 2019, evaluate what we are doing well and what we can do better, plan for 2020, and enjoy time with friends and family. After such a long time away, we weren’t sure how our family would adjust to being back on the mission field, but it didn’t take long to be reminded of our WHY. Why we are here, what our purpose is, and the plans God has in store for each one of our family members and our staff.
We are excited to share that as we returned to Haiti, school was back in session and the students in our scholarship program were happy for the opportunity to attend classes. It’s going to be a tough couple of months as school attempt to make up for lost time. Several reports we are hearing is that many schools will have class 7 days / week to make up for the 4 months that were missed, and to try and be finished before the next school year starts in September. We are eager to walk alongside these students and to see the progress they are making in school this year!
For the transition program, I am happy to report that we are enrolling our first student in professional school. He will be attending a mechanics class and is so excited. He has been helping the organization and staff maintain their motorcycles, vehicles, and generators for the past 9 months and is eager to begin his training in hopes of one day opening up his very own shop in Gonaives.
We appreciate all of the prayers and support for our ministry in Haiti. We are praying for peace throughout the country this year to allow all of the citizens to catch their breath and to get back to some sense of normal.
